President Trump to Visit Pittsburgh After Synagogue Massacre

“President Trump will visit Pittsburgh on Tuesday to console victims of the synagogue massacre and their families,” S.A. Miller reports for The Washington Times. “White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the president, who will be accompanied by first lady Melania Trump in Pittsburgh, is working to comfort a country heartbroken by the horrific attack and unify Americans to confront anti-Semitism everywhere.”
“Anti-Semitism is a plague to humanity,” Sanders said from the White House yesterday.

“The so-called migrant caravan that's slowly making its way to the U.S. from Central America is many things to many people. But one thing seems pretty certain: it's not about seeking ‘asylum,’ or ‘refugee status.’ It's about getting to the United States at all costs,” the Investor’s Business Daily

editorial board writes. “It's time we take our border seriously, or we'll end up like those countries in Europe and the Mideast who find their nations no longer governable.”

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has been one of the strongest and boldest reforms of President Donald Trump’s first term in office. According to analysis from The Heritage Foundation, the tax law will give hardworking Americans tax breaks in every congressional district and in every state,” Kevin Dayaratna writes in The Daily Signal. See what the average tax cut is in your district here.

“In 2016, President Barack Obama said then-candidate Donald Trump would need a magic wand to deliver on his promise to bring back manufacturing. Turns out, Trump didn’t need a magic wand — all he needed was tax reform,” Abigail Marone writes in the
Washington Examiner. “Since President Trump signed the tax cuts, manufacturing has been booming. At least 100 manufacturers have built new facilities, purchased new equipment, hired new employees, and invested in current employees through bonuses and benefit increases.”

America has no room for the ‘vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism’

The White House to you
Tuesday, October 30, 2018

America has no room for the ‘vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism’

The American flag is flying at half-mast above the White House today as our Nation grieves the 11 victims of a despicable act of mass murder Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“Anti-Semitism and the widespread persecution of Jews represents one of the ugliest and darkest features of human history,” President Donald J. Trump said from Indiana on Saturday. “The vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism must be condemned and confronted everywhere and anywhere it appears.”
What unites Americans is our common destiny, President Trump continued. “We mourn for the unthinkable loss of life that took place today, and we pledge in their name to fight for a future of justice, safety, tolerance, morality, dignity, and love. We must all rise above the hate.”

President Trump and the First Lady will visit Pittsburgh tomorrow to meet with family members of the victims and mourn with the entire Pittsburgh community. The 11 Jewish-Americans killed “represented the very best of our Nation,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said from the White House today. The President “adores Jewish-Americans as part of his own family,” which includes his daughter, son-in-law, and several grandchildren, she noted.

As always in moments such as these, America’s heroes in law enforcement do some of the most difficult work. Four of these brave officers were wounded while confronting the attacker this weekend. “They do so much for us,” President Trump said. “And they’re really unsung heroes. They don’t get the credit they deserve.”
Watch President Trump’s response to the tragedy in Pittsburgh.

Another Booming Quarter, and Even Democrats Can't Complain About the Economy

“Last Dec. 22, President Trump signed the tax reform bill — you know, the one that all Democrats loudly decried (but only a few decry now) as the ‘tax scam.’ That bill came on top of several major deregulatory measures during Trump’s first year,” the Washington Examiner editorial board writes.

“On Friday, we saw the results for the second quarter since the ‘tax scam’ went into effect. And guess what? Its unexpectedly strong 3.5 percent annualized growth is a strong follow-up to the 4.1 percent growth in the second quarter of the year. Together, that makes for the best two-quarter stretch since 2014.”    Click here to read more.

“My Democratic colleagues have grown desperate. In the two years their party has sat on the sidelines, our nation has thrived under Republican leadership. That must be why, month after month, on issue after issue, Democrats and their far-left allies have tried to replace inconvenient facts with pure partisan scare tactics,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell writes in The Washington Time The Washington Times. “When facts fail, the far left ratchets up the fear.”

“Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said the migrant caravan headed for the U.S. southern border will not cross over into the United States, on ‘Fox News Sunday,’” Nick Givas writes in The Daily Caller. “There is a legal way to enter this country. Those who choose to enter illegally will be stopped,” Secretary Nielsen said.

“Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump and adviser to his administration, visited Morehead State University on Friday afternoon during her tour of three job centers in eastern Kentucky,” Brad Stacy reports in
The Morehead News. “For us, today was about looking at all the pathways of the American dream,” Ms. Trump said.

US Economy Grows at Fastest Back-to-Back Pace in 4 Years

“The US economy grew at a faster rate than expected in the July-September quarter, according to the Commerce Department’s advance report released on Friday,” Akin Oyedele reports for Business Insider. With 3.5 percent GDP growth for the third quarter, it marks “the economy’s best back-to-back quarters in four years.”
Under President Donald J. Trump, “a healthy job market — with the lowest unemployment rate in 49 years — coupled with strong consumer confidence to support consumer spending, the biggest driver of the US economy.”

“President Donald Trump outlined a plan Thursday he said would allow Medicare to lower drug prices for its Part B coverage and end this ‘rigged system’ that allows other countries to pay less than the U.S. for the same drugs,” Berkeley Lovelace Jr. reports for CNBC. “For decades, other countries have rigged the system so that American patients are charged much more . . . for the exact same drug,” President Trump said from the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington.
White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway writes that “drug overdoses now claim nearly 200 lives each day . . . Yet in the year since President Donald J. Trump issued a nationwide call to action, and his administration declared a national public health emergency, our results and resolve offer some hope that the worst drug crisis in US history can be slowed, and eventually solved.”

In the
Hattiesburg American,, Lici Beveridge writes that during a visit to Mississippi yesterday, Ivanka Trump praised the state’s efforts to improve access to child care. “While there are still issues with access to affordable child care, Mississippi has one of the best records of any other state in the country in terms of infant and early childhood day care,” Ms. Trump said.

“President Trump’s deregulatory agenda has reduced spending on pharmaceuticals by $26 billion since his inauguration,” Kimberly Leonard writes in the
Washington Examiner. According to a new report by the White House Council of Economic Advisers, “government regulations were overly burdensome in getting generic drug applications reviewed for safety and brought to market. They say that having more drugs in the market, especially if they are cheaper generics, can help drive down prices,” Leonard reports.

“First lady Melania Trump marked ‘National Bullying Prevention Month’ on Tuesday by inviting nearly 30 sixth-grade students from the Washington area to attend a screening of the film ‘Wonder’ at the White House,” Ginny Montalbano writes in
The Daily Signal. . The film “Wonder” features a young boy who has Treacher Collins syndrome, a condition that causes facial deformities..

‘It’s time to end the global freeloading once and for all’

The White House to you
Friday, October 26, 2018

‘It’s time to end the global freeloading once and for all’
For far too long, the United States has been footing the bill for lower drug prices—in foreign countries. American patients and taxpayers unfairly subsidize worldwide drug innovation while patients overseas get much lower prices from drug makers. Medicare in particular has shouldered an outrageously high burden.
Today, President Donald J. Trump is launching actions to confront global freeloading and lower medicine prices for American patients. The heart of the effort is simple: putting forward a new way for Medicare to pay for certain drugs that is based on prices that other developed countries pay.
That action alone is projected to reduce Medicare’s payments for these drugs by an incredible 30 percent over the next five years. And a related plan will fix the perverse incentives for doctors to administer more expensive drugs to patients.
Driving down drug costs has been a top priority for this President since day one, and Americans are already seeing results:
  • In the 100 days following the release of President Trump’s blueprint for lower drug costs, more than a dozen drug companies reduced their list prices, rolled back planned price increases, or froze their prices for the rest of the year.
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) set a new record for generic approvals last year, approving more than 1,000 generics that will bring an estimated $9 billion in savings in 2018.
  • Trump signed a law to end unfair gag clauses, which prevented pharmacists from telling patients when they could pay less out of pocket than if they used insurance to cover certain medicines.
Vice President Pence surveys damage in Florida to cover certain medicines.
Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence traveled to the Florida Panhandle today, meeting with residents and surveying the damage from Hurricane Michael.
In Panama City, the Vice President and Second Lady received a briefing about the storm’s impact on Tyndall Air Force Base. Vice President Pence assured Tyndall’s military families that the base will be rebuilt. In fact, $100 million has already been designated to help with cleanup and recovery at the site.
Before departing, the Vice President and Second Lady also visited Hiland Park Baptist Church and met with military families affected by the storm to assure them they have the full support of President Trump and the Administration.

Medicaid Enrollment Declines for the First Time in More Than a Decade as Strong US Economy Boosts Income for Poor Americans

“The booming U.S. economy appears to be reducing dependence on federal health insurance for the poor,” Berkeley Lovelace Jr. reports for CNBC. Medicaid enrollment has fallen for the first time since 2007, and “states largely attribute the enrollment slowdown to a strengthening economy, resulting in fewer new low-income people qualifying for Medicaid,” he adds.Click here to read more. “Almost a year after declaring the opioid epidemic a public health emergency, President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed into law a sweeping legislative package that lawmakers and public health experts believe will help curb the growing crisis in the United States,” Marianna Sotomayor reports for NBC News.
In The Washington Times , Matt Mackowiak writes that Democrats’ complete silence on the approaching migrant caravan is deafening. “America is a compassionate and good-hearted country. We are a generous people. But we cannot allow thousands of economic migrants to break into the country whenever they feel like it,” he explains. “Can anyone cite the Democratic Party view on the caravan?”

“If there was one idea that you could say dominates today’s Democratic Party, it could be summed up in one word: Socialism. Many Democrats, from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders to Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, embrace some form of socialism,” the Investor’s Business Daily editorial board writes. A new White House Council of Economic Advisers report illustrates how America’s economy would look under socialist policies. “The numbers are pretty scary,” the editors argue.

In the Mississippi Clarion Ledger,  Geoff Pender reports that Ivanka Trump will be in Gulfport, Mississippi, today, “meeting with state and community officials about early childhood education and care and workforce training.” Pender adds that Ms. Trump “has made affordable child care a signature issue since her father was running for president and successfully helped lobby Congress for an increase in the child tax credit, included in last year’s tax cuts.”

President Trump’s message on today’s despicable acts

President Trump’s message on today’s despicable acts
“The full weight of our government is being deployed to conduct this investigation and bring those responsible for these despicable acts to justice,” President Donald J. Trump said from the White House East Room today. “This egregious conduct is abhorrent to everything we hold dear and sacred as Americans.”
“In these times we have to unify. We have to come together.”
Watch President Trump’s message.
President signs historic, $6 billion antidrug law
“One year ago, I addressed the Nation in this very room, and declared the opioid crisis a National Public Health Emergency,” President Trump said today from the White House East Room. “We are here to update the American people on the historic action we have taken and to sign landmark legislation to defeat the opioid epidemic.”
The President worked closely with Congress to advance the bipartisan SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act of 2018, the largest legislative package ever passed to address a single drug crisis in America. The law combines a number of crucial provisions, including requirements to help the U.S. Postal Service and border officials stop deadly fentanyl from entering the United States from China and Mexico.
Since last October, the Trump Administration has applied a three-part plan to help stop the opioid epidemic in its tracks:
  • Reducing demand by educating Americans about the dangers of opioid misuse and curbing over-prescription
  • Cutting off the flow of illicit drugs by cracking down on international and domestic supply chains that devastate our communities
  • Helping those struggling with addiction by removing barriers to evidence-based treatment, prevention, and recovery services
The facts on President Trump’s three-part plan to fight the opioid epidemic
Role models: 21 private organizations stepping up to take on drug abuse
Video of the day: Rebekkah’s comeback story We have to come together.”
When Rebekkah was 14, she blew out her ankle during cheerleading practice and was prescribed opioid painkiller pills.
Instead of getting better, she quickly found herself addicted to powerful opioids and eventually turned to heroin. She’s far from alone: 80 percent of heroin users started with a prescription painkiller. Now, Rebekkah is regaining control of her life—and making her detox public to help others trapped in a dangerous cycle.

Trump Administration Launches Program for Moms, Babies with Opioid Withdrawal

Trump Administration Launches Program for Moms, Babies with Opioid Withdrawal

“The Trump administration is launching a program to help states care for pregnant women who are using opioids and for their babies who are born dependent on the drugs,” Kimberly Leonard writes in the Washington Examiner. “The Maternal Opioid Misuse program, or the ‘M-O-M model,’ will work with state Medicaid programs to help set up services for pregnant women who are dependent on opioids and their infants, who can develop [a] condition known as neonatal abstinence syndrome.” Click here to continue reading.

In The Daily Signal, Fred Lucas writes that a new report from the White House Council of Economic Advisers provides a glimpse into how the U.S. economy would crumble under socialist policies. “The study found that if Medicare-for-all were financed out of current federal spending—without additional borrowing or tax increases—it would eat up more than half of the entire federal budget.”

“Homeland Security officials said Tuesday that among the thousands of migrants heading for the United States border are some ‘gang members’ and people with ‘significant criminal histories,’” Paulina Dedaj reports for Fox News. Department Spokesperson Tyler Houlton said that the caravan includes people from the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and elsewhere.

“With a caravan of over 7,000 Central Americans making their way to the Southern border of the United States, it is more important than ever that our political leaders support our border and immigration personnel,” the
Boston Herald editorial board writes. “There is a potential crisis unfolding at our border with Mexico. Law enforcement is all that stands between total lawlessness and criminality.”

The
Investor’s Business Daily editorial board writes that former President Obama has trouble with facts these days, as he’s “running around this week trying to take credit for the economic boom.” But facts are stubborn things: As soon as President Trump took office, “he started reversing as many of Obama's economic policies as he possibly could.” The conclusion should be simple for President Obama: “When it comes to today's economic boom, you didn't build that.”

“The Space Force is poised for launch,” Ledyard King writes for
USA Today. “At a meeting Tuesday of the National Space Council which he chairs, Vice President Mike Pence began laying out more of the milestones needed to establish what would be the nation's first new armed service since 1947.” The Vice President told the Council that “the time has come to write the next great chapter in the history of the Armed Forces of the United States.”

Socialism belongs in the dustbin of history

The White House to you
Wednesday, October 24, 2018

1600 daily

Socialism belongs in the dustbin of history

With the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth, socialism is making a comeback in America. Democrats used to accuse Republicans of fear-mongering when they called out certain far-left policy ideas as “socialist.” Now, a growing number of Democrats are wearing the label as a badge of honor.
American socialists may imagine their proposals mirror those in Northern European countries such as Sweden and Norway. In reality, ideas along the lines of “Medicare for All” have more in common with economists’ traditional definition of socialism. The record of countries who have experimented with those types of command-and-control systems is devastating: Maoist China, the Soviet Union, and Venezuela among them.Something to share: Socialism has a long legacy of failure across the world.
The sky-high taxes needed to fund “Medicare for All” alone, for example, would lead to a staggering $17,000 drop in household incomes after taxes and healthcare expenditures—a 19 percent decline. Without taxing American workers, funding this radical plan would require cuts to half of the Federal budget, wrecking Medicaid, Social Security, and traditional Medicare in the process.
Socialist policies have failed across the world wherever they are tested. They have no place in the United States of America.
Get the facts: What Democrats will take from you to push their socialist agenda.
Full report: The true costs of socialism
The truth about America’s border crisis

Americans see reports daily about the caravan of Central American migrants headed for the U.S. border. As of yesterday, a United Nations official estimated that 7,200 individuals and counting have now joined its ranks.
These numbers are stunning, but the latest immigration figures show a surge of family units and unaccompanied minors from Central America arriving in the United States illegally each day. Responding to catch-and-release loopholes, illegal immigration has shifted from primarily single adults from Mexico to family units and unaccompanied minors from Central America.
By the numbers: Democrat-backed loopholes drive our border crisis

New Health Options for Small-Business Employees

The White House to you

New Health Options for Small-Business Employees
“Americans should have more options than one plan their employer selects for them. And they should be able to maintain their insurance when they change employers or exit the job market to raise a family or care for a sick loved one,” Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and HHS Secretary Alex Azar write in The Wall Street Journal. “That’s why the administration is proposing a regulation that would create a new way for employers to provide health coverage for employees.”

“This proposal would give millions of workers and their families more control over their health care. It also holds the promise of more-efficient health-care spending, expanded business growth, and higher wages.” Click here to read more.

During an interview with USA Today yesterday, President Donald Trump “vowed to send as many troops as necessary to the U.S.-Mexican border to block a growing caravan of Central American migrants, calling their trek ‘an assault on our country,’” David Jackson, Susan Page, and John Fritze report. “I think this could be a blessing in disguise because it shows how bad our laws are,” the President said aboard Air Force One. “The Democrats are responsible for that.”

The
Investor’s Business Daily editorial board writes that Democrats have been trying to hide just how extreme their “Medicare for All” plan truly is. In fact, Democrats aren't telling American families “anything about what ‘Medicare for All’ means. Probably because the plan would be the most radical socialization of health care on the planet.”

“Chancellor Angela Merkel has offered government support to efforts to open up Germany to U.S. gas, a key concession to President Trump as he tries to loosen Russia’s grip on Europe’s largest energy market,” Bojan Pancevski reports in The Wall Street Journal. U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell responded to the news by saying, “We’re creating jobs and we’re also deepening the trans-Atlantic relationship. The U.S. is totally committed to bringing U.S. LNG to Europe and to Germany.”

Big wins in the Lone Star State!

The White House to you

Big wins in the Lone Star State!

This evening, President Donald J. Trump is in Houston, where hardworking Texans know he is delivering results for working people across the state.
Unemployment in the Lone Star State has dropped to 3.8 percent—the lowest rate ever recorded. If that weren’t enough, the average Texas family has been able to save more than $2,000 on average thanks to December’s historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  Something to share: Big wins for Texans under President Trump
The recent headlines: President Trump propels an economic resurgence
Catch-and-release loopholes created a border crisis
The surge of illegal immigration from Central America, thanks to outdated laws demanding “catch-and-release,” has created a dire crisis at our southern border.
Congressional Democrats helped create loopholes that make it nearly impossible to remove many illegal immigrants. Outrageous catch-and-release laws and subsequent court rulings have resulted in de facto immunity for illegal alien minors—and the adults from Central America who arrive at the border with them.
How far has the left gone to embrace open borders and obstruct even the most basic reform of America’s broken immigration system? Democrats in the House opposed the Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act, a bill designed to help law enforcement officials keep criminal gang members from residing illegally in our communities.
Another proposal from Democrats? Simply abolish U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, a move that a majority of Americans oppose.
President Trump stands with the heroes who secure our borders.

Homeland Security Warns of Cartels’ Role in Migrant Caravand

“Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen warned Sunday that the illegal immigrant caravan heading toward the U.S. could be exploited by cartels that control most of the illegal flow of people through Latin America,” Stephen Dinan reports for The Washington Times. “While we closely monitor the caravan crisis, we must remain mindful of the transnational criminal organizations and other criminals that prey on the vulnerabilities of those undertaking the irregular migration journey,” Secretary Nielsen said in a statement. Click here to read more.

“As the massive migrant caravan pushes toward the southern U.S. border, a second group of about 1,000 people from Honduras is rushing to join the main group -- which reportedly has swelled its ranks with several people who've already been deported. The caravan, which has around 5,000 to 7,000 members, was on the move again Monday morning, departing the southern Mexico city of Tapachula,” Greg Norman reports in Fox News

“The United States, as we have said many times, cares for the Palestinian people and wants to help, but we will not empower a regime that launches attacks on Israeli kindergartens. The threats and violent behavior of Hamas prevent the international community from being able to ease the humanitarian situation in Gaza,” Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt writes in
The Jerusalem Post.

In The Hill, Mike Palicz writes that “President Trump’s commitment to creating an energy-dominant America continues to roll on at full speed,” with the United States passing Saudi Arabia and Russia as the world’s largest crude oil producer. “President Obama wrongly believed that creating an energy independent America required a drastic shift away from oil as a source of energy for Americans. It was the pursuit of this policy that for years hindered the growth of our nation’s energy sector.”

“White House senior adviser Ivanka Trump told the
Washington Examiner Friday the United States will only reach its full potential when women are ‘economically empowered,’” Anna Giaritelli writes. “This administration’s economic agenda is centered on growth and job creation and we recognize that only when women are economically empowered to thrive, will our families, our economies, and our societies reach their fullest potential,” Ms. Trump said.
