President Trump to Visit Pittsburgh After Synagogue Massacre

“President Trump will visit Pittsburgh on Tuesday to console victims of the synagogue massacre and their families,” S.A. Miller reports for The Washington Times. “White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the president, who will be accompanied by first lady Melania Trump in Pittsburgh, is working to comfort a country heartbroken by the horrific attack and unify Americans to confront anti-Semitism everywhere.”
“Anti-Semitism is a plague to humanity,” Sanders said from the White House yesterday.

“The so-called migrant caravan that's slowly making its way to the U.S. from Central America is many things to many people. But one thing seems pretty certain: it's not about seeking ‘asylum,’ or ‘refugee status.’ It's about getting to the United States at all costs,” the Investor’s Business Daily

editorial board writes. “It's time we take our border seriously, or we'll end up like those countries in Europe and the Mideast who find their nations no longer governable.”

“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has been one of the strongest and boldest reforms of President Donald Trump’s first term in office. According to analysis from The Heritage Foundation, the tax law will give hardworking Americans tax breaks in every congressional district and in every state,” Kevin Dayaratna writes in The Daily Signal. See what the average tax cut is in your district here.

“In 2016, President Barack Obama said then-candidate Donald Trump would need a magic wand to deliver on his promise to bring back manufacturing. Turns out, Trump didn’t need a magic wand — all he needed was tax reform,” Abigail Marone writes in the
Washington Examiner. “Since President Trump signed the tax cuts, manufacturing has been booming. At least 100 manufacturers have built new facilities, purchased new equipment, hired new employees, and invested in current employees through bonuses and benefit increases.”

America has no room for the ‘vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism’

The White House to you

America has no room for the ‘vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism’

The American flag is flying at half-mast above the White House today as our Nation grieves the 11 victims of a despicable act of mass murder Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
“Anti-Semitism and the widespread persecution of Jews represents one of the ugliest and darkest features of human history,” President Donald J. Trump said from Indiana on Saturday. “The vile, hate-filled poison of anti-Semitism must be condemned and confronted everywhere and anywhere it appears.”
What unites Americans is our common destiny, President Trump continued. “We mourn for the unthinkable loss of life that took place today, and we pledge in their name to fight for a future of justice, safety, tolerance, morality, dignity, and love. We must all rise above the hate.”

President Trump and the First Lady will visit Pittsburgh tomorrow to meet with family members of the victims and mourn with the entire Pittsburgh community. The 11 Jewish-Americans killed “represented the very best of our Nation,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said from the White House today. The President “adores Jewish-Americans as part of his own family,” which includes his daughter, son-in-law, and several grandchildren, she noted.

As always in moments such as these, America’s heroes in law enforcement do some of the most difficult work. Four of these brave officers were wounded while confronting the attacker this weekend. “They do so much for us,” President Trump said. “And they’re really unsung heroes. They don’t get the credit they deserve.”

Another Booming Quarter, and Even Democrats Can't Complain About the Economy

Another Booming Quarter, and Even Democrats Can't Complain About the Economy

“Last Dec. 22, President Trump signed the tax reform bill — you know, the one that all Democrats loudly decried (but only a few decry now) as the ‘tax scam.’ That bill came on top of several major deregulatory measures during Trump’s first year,” the Washington Examiner editorial board writes.

“On Friday, we saw the results for the second quarter since the ‘tax scam’ went into effect. And guess what? Its unexpectedly strong 3.5 percent annualized growth is a strong follow-up to the 4.1 percent growth in the second quarter of the year. Together, that makes for the best two-quarter stretch since 2014.”    Click here to read more.

“My Democratic colleagues have grown desperate. In the two years their party has sat on the sidelines, our nation has thrived under Republican leadership. That must be why, month after month, on issue after issue, Democrats and their far-left allies have tried to replace inconvenient facts with pure partisan scare tactics,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell writes in The Washington Time The Washington Times. “When facts fail, the far left ratchets up the fear.”

“Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said the migrant caravan headed for the U.S. southern border will not cross over into the United States, on ‘Fox News Sunday,’” Nick Givas writes in The Daily Caller. “There is a legal way to enter this country. Those who choose to enter illegally will be stopped,” Secretary Nielsen said.

“Ivanka Trump, daughter of President Donald Trump and adviser to his administration, visited Morehead State University on Friday afternoon during her tour of three job centers in eastern Kentucky,” Brad Stacy reports in
The Morehead News. “For us, today was about looking at all the pathways of the American dream,” Ms. Trump said.

US Economy Grows at Fastest Back-to-Back Pace in 4 Years

“The US economy grew at a faster rate than expected in the July-September quarter, according to the Commerce Department’s advance report released on Friday,” Akin Oyedele reports for Business Insider. With 3.5 percent GDP growth for the third quarter, it marks “the economy’s best back-to-back quarters in four years.”
Under President Donald J. Trump, “a healthy job market — with the lowest unemployment rate in 49 years — coupled with strong consumer confidence to support consumer spending, the biggest driver of the US economy.”

“President Donald Trump outlined a plan Thursday he said would allow Medicare to lower drug prices for its Part B coverage and end this ‘rigged system’ that allows other countries to pay less than the U.S. for the same drugs,” Berkeley Lovelace Jr. reports for CNBC. “For decades, other countries have rigged the system so that American patients are charged much more . . . for the exact same drug,” President Trump said from the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington.
White House Counselor Kellyanne Conway writes that “drug overdoses now claim nearly 200 lives each day . . . Yet in the year since President Donald J. Trump issued a nationwide call to action, and his administration declared a national public health emergency, our results and resolve offer some hope that the worst drug crisis in US history can be slowed, and eventually solved.”

In the
Hattiesburg American,, Lici Beveridge writes that during a visit to Mississippi yesterday, Ivanka Trump praised the state’s efforts to improve access to child care. “While there are still issues with access to affordable child care, Mississippi has one of the best records of any other state in the country in terms of infant and early childhood day care,” Ms. Trump said.

“President Trump’s deregulatory agenda has reduced spending on pharmaceuticals by $26 billion since his inauguration,” Kimberly Leonard writes in the
Washington Examiner. According to a new report by the White House Council of Economic Advisers, “government regulations were overly burdensome in getting generic drug applications reviewed for safety and brought to market. They say that having more drugs in the market, especially if they are cheaper generics, can help drive down prices,” Leonard reports.

“First lady Melania Trump marked ‘National Bullying Prevention Month’ on Tuesday by inviting nearly 30 sixth-grade students from the Washington area to attend a screening of the film ‘Wonder’ at the White House,” Ginny Montalbano writes in
The Daily Signal. . The film “Wonder” features a young boy who has Treacher Collins syndrome, a condition that causes facial deformities..

‘It’s time to end the global freeloading once and for all’

The White House to you
Friday, October 26, 2018

‘It’s time to end the global freeloading once and for all’
For far too long, the United States has been footing the bill for lower drug prices—in foreign countries. American patients and taxpayers unfairly subsidize worldwide drug innovation while patients overseas get much lower prices from drug makers. Medicare in particular has shouldered an outrageously high burden.
Today, President Donald J. Trump is launching actions to confront global freeloading and lower medicine prices for American patients. The heart of the effort is simple: putting forward a new way for Medicare to pay for certain drugs that is based on prices that other developed countries pay.
That action alone is projected to reduce Medicare’s payments for these drugs by an incredible 30 percent over the next five years. And a related plan will fix the perverse incentives for doctors to administer more expensive drugs to patients.
Driving down drug costs has been a top priority for this President since day one, and Americans are already seeing results:
  • In the 100 days following the release of President Trump’s blueprint for lower drug costs, more than a dozen drug companies reduced their list prices, rolled back planned price increases, or froze their prices for the rest of the year.
  • The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) set a new record for generic approvals last year, approving more than 1,000 generics that will bring an estimated $9 billion in savings in 2018.
  • Trump signed a law to end unfair gag clauses, which prevented pharmacists from telling patients when they could pay less out of pocket than if they used insurance to cover certain medicines.
Vice President Pence surveys damage in Florida to cover certain medicines.
Vice President Mike Pence and Second Lady Karen Pence traveled to the Florida Panhandle today, meeting with residents and surveying the damage from Hurricane Michael.
In Panama City, the Vice President and Second Lady received a briefing about the storm’s impact on Tyndall Air Force Base. Vice President Pence assured Tyndall’s military families that the base will be rebuilt. In fact, $100 million has already been designated to help with cleanup and recovery at the site.
Before departing, the Vice President and Second Lady also visited Hiland Park Baptist Church and met with military families affected by the storm to assure them they have the full support of President Trump and the Administration.
