Ivanka Talks Tax Interests of American Families
Last week, Advisor Ivanka Trump appeared alongside Senate and House Republicans on Capitol Hill to discuss the importance of an enhanced child tax credit to promote the wellbeing of American families. As part of the Administration's push for Tax Reform, Ivanka, in coordination with the National Economic Council, Office of Legislative Affairs, and Treasury, has been working on an expansion of the child tax credit as it is an essential part of ensuring a middle class tax cut. It will put more money back in American's pockets, empowering them to make decisions that work best for their individual families.

“CEA: BUSINESS SIDE OF TRUMP’S UNIFIED TAX PLAN COULD PUSH GDP BY 5% IN NEXT DECADE”

- Ali Meyer, The Washington Free Beacon

Ali Meyer of The Washington Free Beacon reports “the business side of President Trump’s Unified Tax Plan…could push GDP by 5 percent in the next 10 years,” following the release of a new report by the Council of Economic Advisers that found “cutting the corporate tax rate could lift gross domestic product by a range of 3 to 5 percent over the long run.” Meyer writes the study found that due to the business side of the plan, “wage and salary income could increase by roughly $4,000” and that number could be increased even further by reforms to the individual income tax.

Regarding tax reform, the Independent Women’s Forum’s Patrice Lee Onwuka writes in Fox News on the hypocrisy of “a handful of female senators on the left” who once supported tax relief, but are now “intentionally trying to block tax reform efforts.” Onwuka concludes that this is a “missed opportunity,” for women in Congress to demonstrate “bipartisanship and leadership that will help women succeed in today’s economy.”

In The Times of Israel, Dov Lieber reports that Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon held rare direct talks Sunday night with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah in Ramallah, in which the two sides discussed bilateral financial relations as well Israel’s settlement policy. The meeting came amid an American push to improve economic ties between the Palestinians and Israel as part of a larger plan to ultimately strike a peace deal.

On the Affordable Care Act, The Washington Times editorial board writes “Obamacare is a disaster,” as the annual round of ACA enrollment shows the average exchange prices for the more popular plans “will rise 34 percent,” and will be even higher in some states.

With ISIS in retreat, Victor Davis Hanson of the Hoover Institution writes in RealClearPolitics that the recent American victories against the terrorist state follow Secretary of Defense James Mattis relaxing the rules of U.S. engagement, and making it "veritable open season on Islamic State jihadists." He adds American forces are also training an entire new cadres of anti-ISIS fighters for the battlefield.

And at the Federalist John Daniel Davidson writes on the latest absurd installment in the iconoclastic “war” against historical figures like George Washington and Robert E. Lee, stating “the purpose of this relentless war on the past is not really to adjudicate America’s historical sins or educate the young about them, but to justify political force in the present day.”

An Economy That Works For Hardworking Americans

The White House to you
Tuesday, October 31, 2017

Under the current tax code’s uncompetitive corporate tax rates, wage growth stagnates. Hardworking Americans don’t experience the wage growth they should. But fixing our broken tax code can help make our economy more productive and more profitable. Read more about the Unified Framework for Tax Reform supported by President Donald J. Trump here.
-----------------
Kick-Starting the American Economy into High Gear
There’s a disconnect between America’s corporate profits and America’s real wages. On Friday, the Council of Economic Advisers released a report on the relationship between the corporate tax rate and gross domestic product (GDP). GDP growth has stalled below its post-World War II average (about 3 percent) for the last decade. Improving our tax policies, such as cutting corporate taxes and allowing capital investments to be written off, will jumpstart America's economic engine.

See the full report here.
President Trump Takes Action Against the Nation's Opioid Crisis
Last week, President Trump continued the mobilization of his Administration to address drug addiction by directing the declaration of a Nationwide Public Health Emergency to address the opioids crisis. The action allows for expanded access to telemedicine services, including services involving remote prescribing of medicine commonly used for substance abuse or mental health treatment.
In 2016, more than two million Americans had an addiction to prescription or illicit opioids. This directive will help states and local communities better fight this battle, and strengthen the tools available at the federal level, ensuring people have access to the help they desperately need, and deserve.

Vice President Pence Delivers Remarks at Minot Air Force Base
On Friday, Vice President Pence gave remarks to Airmen at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. He expressed gratitude on behalf of the President and citizens of the United States for their service to our Nation, and dedication to defend our freedom and way of life. The Vice President also reassured the Administration's commitment to strengthening the United States’ Armed Forces, proclaiming that the era of budget cuts to the American military has ended.
“Our President has already signed the largest increase in defense spending in nearly 10 years. And as we speak, we're working with the Congress to pass the largest investment in our national defense since the days of Ronald Reagan. Under this Commander-in-Chief, the era of budget cuts to the American military are over,” Vice President Pence said.

Pushing America's Economy Forward

The White House to you
Saturday, October 28, 2017

U.S. ECONOMY NOTCHES SOLID 3% GROWTH, DESPITE HURRICANES
Josh Mitchell at the Wall Street Journal reports the “U.S. economy posted its best six-month stretch of growth in three years despite two hurricanes.” GDP growth in the third quarter bested analyst estimates and was the first time since mid 2004 when “the economy strung together two quarters of at least 3% growth.”

Concerning tax reform, Jane Timken, chairman of the Ohio Republican Party, comments on Cleveland.com “Ohio Republicans support this [tax] plan because it offers a once-in-a-generation opportunity to usher in a new era of economic growth.” Just like how America saw sustained growth after the Reagan tax cuts in 1986, “It’s time for Ohioans to benefit from a roaring economy again,” Timken concludes.

CBS News reports on the Justice Department’s entry into settlements on two cases involving groups whose tax-exempt status was “inappropriately delayed” by the IRS during the 2010 and 2012 elections. Attorney General Jeff Sessions commented “There is no excuse for this conduct,” and he hopes “today’s settlement makes clear that this abuse of power will not be tolerated,” CBS News concludes.

Regarding the JFK files, Fox News writes on President Trump’s promise of “great transparency” in the release of hundreds of records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, despite a recent delay. The remaining documents are expected to be released to the public in April 2018, Fox reports.

And in the The Washington Times Rowan Scarborough pens the “Democrats have been indirectly colluding with Moscow disinformation to bash the Trump team,” after falsely accusing President Trump’s presidential campaign for doing the exact same thing.

Fighting a Crisis, Forging the Future

The White House to you
Saturday, October 28, 2017

Yesterday, Congress passed a pro-growth 2018 joint budget resolution, setting the stage for economic relief for the American people in the form of tax cuts, job creation, and simplification of the burdensome tax code. President Donald J. Trump applauds Congress for taking preliminary steps toward pro-jobs, pro-business, pro-America economic reform. Read the full statement from the Press Secretary here and learn more about the Unified Framework for Tax Reform here.
-----------------
Keeping America’s Middle Class Strong and Prosperous
On Wednesday, Vice President Mike Pence published an op-ed in the Denver Post in advance of his visit to Denver, Colorado. “Tax cuts are long overdue. It’s been more than 30 years since President Ronald Reagan passed the last major tax reform, and since those days, America has fallen behind…. In recent years, Denver alone has lost 5 percent of its middle class,” Vice President Pence wrote. The Unified Framework for Tax Reform is specifically oriented to serving the middle class and keeping more dollars in the pockets of hardworking Americans. Read the Vice President’s full op-ed here.
Decisive Action on the Opioid Crisis
Yesterday at the White House, President Trump declared the nationwide opioid crisis in the United States a public health emergency. President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump spoke on the impact of America’s epidemic of drug addiction on children and families, and commended the courageous individuals working to combat the opioid crisis in various ways.
In his remarks, the President recalled the tragic loss of his brother Fred, and urged Americans never to begin using addictive substances. “Illegal drug use is not a victimless crime,” the President said. “There is nothing admirable, positive, or socially desirable about it… We want the next generation of young Americans to know the blessings of a drug-free life.” Read more about President Trump’s strategy to fight the opioid crisis here.
Developments Ahead for American Aerospace
President Trump and his Administration are creating a new program to accelerate the integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS, also known as drones) into American aerospace. Until now, America’s outdated aerospace regulations have driven Americans to establish offshore zones for drone innovation and testing. The pilot program will increase the number and complexity of UAS operations in the United States and pave the way for developing a national aerospace regulatory system.
Read more on what this means for American aviation here.

Addressing America's Opioid Crisis

The White House to you
Friday, October 27, 2017

“TRUMP DECLARES THE OPIOID CRISIS A PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY”

- Jenna Johnson and John Wagner, The Washington Post

Jenna Johnson and John Wagner of The Washington Post report that President Trump declared the opioid crisis a public health emergency during an opioid-focused event on Thursday afternoon. This will allow the federal government to “waive some regulations, give states more flexibility in how they use federal funds and expand the use of telemedicine treatment,” Johnson and Wagner write. The President signed a presidential memorandum that directs Acting Secretary of Health and Human Services Eric Hargan “to declare a nationwide public health emergency and direct all federal agencies to use any emergency authorities that they have to reduce the number of opioid overdose deaths.” Johnson and Wagner conclude that officials plan to roll out more initiatives to address the crisis in the coming days and weeks, and the White House is working with Congress to find additional funding for this crisis.

The Christian Post’s Samuel Smith writes on Vice President Pence’s promise to Middle Eastern Christian leaders that the United States will begin providing help to “rebuild their ancient communities” following the order President Trump gave to the U.S. State Department to enable U.S. aid funding to go “directly to faith-based organizations actively supporting Christians and other religious minorities displaced by the Islamic state.”

In economic news, the Washington Examiner reports that data from the Labor Department on Thursday showed that “the total number of workers receiving unemployment benefits again fell to the lowest level in nearly 44 years in mid-October,” a sign that “job creation is strong.”

Regarding the phony Trump dossier, the Wall Street Journal editorial board writes on the hidden joint financial actions of the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton's campaign that make it appear “Democrats paid for Russians to compile wild allegations,” about President Trump, as well as the credibility of the investigation as a whole.

At the Associated Press, Erica Werner and Alan Fram write on the unity within the Republican Party after a pair of prominent senators denounced President Trump and invited their colleagues to join them. Instead, “most GOP lawmakers rallied around Trump and his agenda,” and “voiced unqualified support,” for the President, Werner and Fram report.

Promoting America’s Prosperity

The White House to you
Friday, October 27, 2017

Enabling the American Family to Thrive Yesterday, Ivanka Trump joined Senate and House Republicans at the Capitol to discuss the importance of increasing the child tax credit to benefit working families of America. Our tax code must recognize and support the reality that the majority of parents in the United States are a part of the workforce. As wages have stagnated over the years, the cost of raising a family has grown exponentially, creating a critical need for tax reform to ensure that all American families can invest in their children and thrive.
Learn more about the Unified Framework for Tax reform at whitehouse.gov/taxreform.
Another Step towards Recovery
On Tuesday, the Senate passed the Additional Supplemental Appropriations for Disaster Relief Requirements Act of 2017, in which the President requested additional funds for critical disaster relief to assist Americans living in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other affected areas rebuild their lives. President Trump also received a briefing on Hurricane Harvey relief and recovery efforts in Dallas, Texas, yesterday.
Freedom, Opportunity, and Prosperity for Americans
“I’ve traveled across America this year. Every place I visit, working families and job creators have told me one thing: They told me that the biggest obstacle to their success is our country's broken tax code. One after another -- I've sat at tables in California and in cities large and small with small-business owners and families -- one after another have spoken to me about the burden that our tax system places on them and the barrier that it puts in-between them and reaching and achieving their dreams,” said Vice President Pence at the American Enterprise Institute.
President Trump has taken decisive action to promote freedom, opportunity, and prosperity for every American. To revive America’s economy, the Trump Administration has been rolling back regulations that stifle American businesses and have eroded opportunities for working families for far too long. Under the Unified Framework supported by the President, middle-income America will see tax cuts, job creation, and business growth.

“U.S. TARGETS TERRORIST FINANCING WITH NEW ROUND OF SANCTIONS”

-Alan Rappeport, New York Times

Alan Rappeport of the New York Times reports on the newly imposed sanctions by the U.S. on 8 individuals and a business affiliated with the Islamic State in Yemen and with Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Rappeport writes the sanctions come with Treasury Secretary Mnuchin’s unveiling of the new Terrorist Financing Target Center in Saudi Arabia focused on finding individuals and entities that are using the international financial system to fund terrorism and other destabilizing activities. The center was first established as the Global Center for Combating Extremist Ideology earlier this year by President Trump during his trip to the Middle East. “President Trump has made attacking terrorist financing a priority in his first year in office,” Rappeport remarks, “and the Treasury has been increasingly working with Persian Gulf countries to freeze the assets of people who are plotting attacks.”

In the Wall Street Journal, Michael Kratsios, from the White House’s Office of Science and Technology Policy, writes on President Trump’s Memorandum promoting the safe operation of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). A Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity to Fix the Tax Code

The White House to you
Wednesday, October 25, 2017

“THE WAGES OF CORPORATE TAXES”

-The Editorial Board, The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal's editorial board writes how Kevin Hassett earned the wrath of the left by showing how corporate tax reform will give workers a pay raise, and how President Obama’s economic record failed the middle-class. Hassett pointed out under President Obama, real corporate profits rose 11 percent a year but “the pass-through to workers” was only 0.3 percent. “If we presided over that liberal record, we’d be sore, too,” WSJ’s Editorial Board writes. “But if [liberals] look in the mirror with some honesty, they might understand that the failure of their policies in lifting wages is one reason Donald Trump is President. Meanwhile, why begrudge Americans a raise?”

The editorial board of Investor’s Business Daily writes Democrats are currently fighting to keep the state and local tax deduction that will cost the federal government “$1.8 trillion over the next decade,” and the benefits “go almost entirely to upper-income families.”

In The New York Times, Katie Rogers reports on First Lady Melania Trump’s visit to Orchard Lake Middle School in Michigan where she talked about the importance of choosing “kindness and compassion” as a part of her refocus on combating cyberbullying.

In the Wisconsin State Journal, Dennis Slater, president of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, stresses the importance of Congress passing the proposed comprehensive tax plan to ensure America’s continued manufacturing strength. “Our elected leaders have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fix the tax code” and put our manufacturing businesses in an ideal position to compete and win on the global stage.

At The Daily Signal, former Green Beret and Heritage Foundation Fellow Steven Bucci urges politicians and the media to stop unnecessarily politicizing the work that American special forces were conducting in Niger, writing that “grandstanding senators and talking heads don’t help make America safe, but missions just like the one in Niger do.”

Captain Gary M. Rose Receives Medal of Honor
On Monday, President Donald J. Trump awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor to Captain Gary Michael “Mike” Rose (retired). Rose, a United States Army Captain, received the highest military honor for conspicuous gallantry during the Vietnam War, where he risked his life to administer lifesaving aid to his comrades in spite of severe injury and enemy fire. From September 11 through September 14, 1970, while his unit was engaged with a much larger force deep in enemy-controlled territory, then-Sergeant Rose repeatedly ran into the line of enemy fire to provide critical medical aid to his comrades, using his own body on one occasion to shield a wounded American from harm.
On the final day of the mission, although wounded himself, Sergeant Rose voluntarily exposed himself to enemy fire while moving wounded personnel to the extraction point, loading them into helicopters, and helping to repel an enemy assault on the American position. As he boarded the final extraction helicopter, intense enemy fire hit the helicopter, causing it to crash shortly after takeoff. Again, ignoring his own injuries, Sergeant Rose pulled the helicopter crew and members of his unit from the burning wreckage and provided medical aid until another extraction helicopter arrived.
“[Y]our will to endure, your love for your fellow soldier, your devotion to your country inspires us all,” the President said. “Nations are formed out of the strength and patriotism that lives in the hearts of our heroes.”

Vice President Participates in Commemoration of 1983 Tragedy
Vice President Mike Pence delivered remarks at the Marine Barracks in Washington, D.C., on Monday morning to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the 1983 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon. Vice President Pence praised the courage of the Marines who were sent to Lebanon to help protect the innocent and prevent a civil war from becoming an even greater tragedy. “[B]ecause of the principles for which they stood and the peace for which they strived, these heroes aroused the attention of great evil,” Pence said, describing what was the beginning of the global war on terror.
The Vice President paid his respects to the fallen and commended those who are currently fighting to defend American freedom.
Creating Jobs, Creating Growth, and Offering Relief to Families
On Monday, Advisor Ivanka Trump attended a tax reform town hall in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where she discussed the Trump Administration’s unified tax reform plan. She was joined by U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza as she delivered remarks to a crowd of roughly 250 attendees.
“There are so many elements squarely targeted at creating jobs, creating growth, and offering relief to our middle-income families,” Trump said, as she continued to tout the merits of the tax-overhaul effort.
The tax reform plan is aimed at simplifying the tax code and increasing U.S. competitiveness on the global stage. Tax reform will provide middle-class relief by permanently reducing tax rates and it will lower the corporate tax rate and give American businesses the competitive edge in the global market. The tax code will be simple, fair, and easy, eliminating loopholes and ensuring that 90% of Americans will be able to file their taxes on one sheet of paper. Finally, the tax reform plan will bring back trillions of dollars in wealth parked overseas, allowing those dollars to be re-invested in American workers, jobs, and companies.
President Trump’s tax reform plan is pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-worker, and pro-American. Learn more about his tax reform plan here.

VIETNAM WAR MEDIC WHO SAVED 60 ON SECRET MISSION TO RECEIVE MEDAL OF HONOR
ABC News’s Luis Martinez reports retired Army Captain Gary Michael Rose, 71, received the Medal of Honor Monday, “for his heroism as a combat medic during a harrowing secret mission into Laos in 1970” where he saved the lives of 60 wounded personnel during four days of intense combat, “including those injured when the helicopter that evacuated his team was brought down by enemy fire.” At a Pentagon news briefing last week Rose said his job “was to focus on the individuals that were hurt,” and that “you don’t concern yourself about getting hurt or killed.”

Achieving the American Dream

The White House to you
Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Our current uncompetitive corporate tax rate encourages U.S. firms to keep profits offshore. In 2016, a Federal corporate tax rate of 20 percent could have brought more than $140 billion in corporate profits back to America, according to an analysis by the Council of Economic Advisers. Those profits could have helped boost the incomes of U.S. households. President Donald J. Trump is committed to investing in American jobs and the Unified Framework for Fixing Our Broken Tax Code will end the “offshoring model” as companies will bring profits back and invest in American workers.
---------------------
Achieving the American Dream
President Trump issued a Presidential Proclamation designating October 22nd through October 28, 2017 as National Minority Enterprise Development Week. Since our earliest days, hardworking entrepreneurs have driven our Nation's prosperity. During Minority Enterprise Development Week, we recognize the contributions that minority owned businesses make to our economy and our way of life, and we strive to ensure that small business owners have access to the resources they need to achieve the American Dream.
Additionally, the White House is hosting a tax reform town hall today in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to discuss with hard working Americans how the Administration's tax reform policy prioritizes providing tax relief to middle-income families. Advisor Ivanka Trump and U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza will participate.

“Today is such an honor as I dedicate my inaugural couture piece to the First Ladies exhibit at the National Museum of American History,” the First Lady said. “In addition to celebrating fashion, which is something I have loved since I was a small child, there is no better way to memorialize such a special evening, and new chapter in the life of our family.”
